This is our little corner of the web where we will be sharing ideas. What we don’t want is for people to go three years between courses and get a bit rusty. In most circumstances that may be OK, but what if a loved one, or even a perfect stranger, needs your help and you have forgotten what to do?
This is where we can all stay up to date, so should we need to call on those skills, you may just save a life.
HSE Approved? Not me!
I can't believe I'm STILL getting people asking me if I'm HSE approved. Not any more, and neither is anyone else! Here is a little letter that hopefully explains why there is no such thing as an HSE approved First Aid Instructor, and why we here at Beyond First Aid can fill you in on anything that's missing from your first aid puzzle.
Important Changes to First Aid
may be aware that following a government review, some major changes took place in
the First Aid industry, and the direct approval of first aid training providers
by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) was removed. This significant change came
in to effect on October 1st 2013.
What did this mean for you?
responsibility of ensuring the quality of first aid training has now moved to
the employer, you. Guidance published by the HSE covers six pages of due
diligence that you should undertake if you choose unregulated first aid
training. This includes checks on the competency of trainers, internal quality
assurers and more.
Now here’s the good news…
your first aiders undertake qualifications accredited by an Ofqual or SQA
recognised Awarding Organisation, the guidance is clear that you don’t have to
undertake any of this lengthy due diligence process. In short, certificates for
Regulated Qualifications will be accepted by the HSE inspector for the purposes
of the first aid regulations. No due
diligence evidence will be required.
a bit ahead of the game in addressing these changes, and Beyond First Aid became a registered centre with Qualsafe Awards AND The Association of
First Aiders, both leading Ofqual recognised Awarding Organisations, 10 months
before it became necessary. We have been delivering regulated qualifications
since January 1st 2013 and have had positive feedback from our students.
have now decided to show our customers how and why we can offer some of the
best first aid training available. In the coming months we shall be adding some
new information to our website. We shall share our own first aid qualifications,
copies of our insurance policies and teaching qualifications. We’ll share our
policies on Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, etc. We will include how we
safeguard children and vulnerable adults, we will even show how we deal with
malpractice and conflicts of interest.
Beyond First Aid Qualifications are not only accepted
right now - you can be confident that they will meet your future legal
back and relax… your first aiders will be receiving the highest possible
standard in first aid training, from a training company that you trust.
don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
