Health walks and other activities that help people get fit are saving the UK health service a 'vast sum of money', it has been claimed.
According to 24Dash.com, more than 10 000 people have improved their personal fitness levels by using open spaces owned by the Land Restoration Trust. The site notes that the Trust offers a range of activities for people to get fit, including 'green gyms' and walks to help people get healthy.
Chief Executive of the Trust Euan Hall told the source that it was a 'very simple equation'. 'Activities such as health walks and "green gyms" improve people's health, which therefore reduces sickness and, consequently, the money spent curing sickness,' he said. He went on to comment that using open spaces to get exercise was potentially the 'ultimate solution' for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
